This tiny CPU-monitoring tool is quite handy and true to its name, but it contains only two, unlabeled buttons, and the help file is nonexistent. PowwwerSoft CPU Monitor has a sleek, semitransparent interface with a fluctuating bar graph and percentage ticker with a continual wavelength pattern to show CPU usage. As thin as the title bar on most programs and about one-fifth as long, this program can be docked anywhere on the screen and is always on top. Pushing the green button will access the settings menu, where users can choose to create a log file, change the percentage of transparency, and change the speed of refresh for CPU usage readout. Log files are in the program’s folder on your hard drive. Although the usage features can already be found within Windows, the added transparency and accessibility of this freeware program make it a worthwhile download.
