Although its interface could use quite a bit of work, this music-organization application earns points for automating certain tasks. Music Catalogue Master’s main window provides icons for adding either CDs or vinyl LPs to its database. Since the program fortunately connects directly to the online CDDB, you simply insert a disc into your PC’s CD drive, and the app automatically pulls up all pertinent information, including artist, track names and times, and musicians. Adding a vinyl LP to the program works much in the same fashion; you enter artist and title, and the program retrieves other data from the Web. The program will let you add cover art, but you’ll have to do so manually. Unfortunately, some of this app’s features, such as filtering and sorting tools, are only available from a secondary screen; we really wish you could get to everything from the main interface. Also, you’ll have to dig through menus if you want to display a list of all artists and albums in your database. Still, if you’re willing to put in the time to learn its quirks, Music Catalogue Master can put your entire collection of tunes at your fingertips.
