Journal Macro doesn’t do anything its competitors don’t, but its well-designed interface and solid help file distinguish it from the common herd. Similar to its competitors, Journal Macro automates basic tasks such as typing, moving the cursor, handling windows, launching a program, or opening a Web page (though it can’t dial a modem or download a file). However, unlike most, Journal Macro has an application window that’s powerful and compact, if a tad cryptic. Luckily, the program comes with five tutorial macros that make everything clear. Users can activate shortcuts through program-specific hot keys, text aliases, and scripts. The program doesn’t support conditional scripting, however.
