Free Word/Doc Txt to Image Jpg/Jpeg Bmp Tiff Png, in spite of its atrocious name, is a simple program that allows users to convert text documents into images. The program is easy to use, but some users may be frustrated by its lack of options.

The program’s interface is fairly sleek and attractive. Users add the files that they want to convert–Word, text, and RTF files are supported–and select which kind of image output they desire. The program includes nine output options, including JPEG, GIF, and BMP. The documents are converted with the click of a button and saved in a location specified by the user. The program contains no Help file, which is always a drawback, but the program’s functions are intuitive enough that this is not a major problem. Although the program gets credit for being easy to use, it is very basic and does not include some of the options that users may be looking for. In particular, there is no way to specify the size or resolution of the output, which would be a great feature to have. Another issue is that the free version of the program, at least, does not seem to support the conversion of multipaged documents; all we got was the first page. Thus, the program is not a bad choice for users who need to occasionally convert single-page documents that don’t need much adjustment, but users with more intensive needs may find that this program is too basic.

This program is free. It installs nicely, but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.

Word Excel PowerPoint to Pdf Converter will supposedly convert Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents to PDFs; however, a trial restriction prevented us from seeing the full outcome.

We tested the trial version, which is so limited that we couldn’t tell if the program works properly or not. We selected a Word and an Excel document to try with the program. We were informed that the trial version would only convert part of the documents; that for full document conversion we must purchase the program. We let the program convert our files, and when we viewed them, because of the truncated files we could not tell if the program converted both the Word file and the Excel file or just the Word file. The trial version put “unregistered trial version” on the resulting PDF, and we could see that just fine. Without being able to test it fully, we can’t recommend this program. Even if we could test it fully, we aren’t sure of the need for this program. Word, Excel, and Powerpoint all have a “Save as PDF” option in the 2007 version of Microsoft Office. Users can usually save files as PDFs with older versions of these programs by selecting the option from within the Print menu.

PowerPoint/PPT to Pdf Converter provides users with an easy solution for converting PowerPoint presentations to PDFs. Everything about this program is simple, from its interface to its self-explanatory functionality.

We started the conversion process by selecting a PowerPoint presentation that consisted of mostly images. It took a few minutes for the conversion process to finish, but once it was complete, the resulting PDF looked good. The only drawback that we found is that the program did not have any way of adjusting resolution or file size. We would have liked an option to reduce the file size, which would have come in handy for converting our image-heavy presentations to an e-mail-friendly PDF. Other than that, this application accomplishes what it was created to do, easily and efficiently.

Excel/Xls to Pdf Converter allows users to convert Excel spreadsheets to PDFs with a few simple clicks. The idea behind this program is good, but it’s difficult to gauge the overall functionality thanks to several trial limitations.

Overall, the program is easy to use. Users have the option of converting single files or batch converting multiple files. The trial version does not allow batch conversion, and when we tried to convert a single Excel file, a window popped up to tell us that only part of the file was going to be converted, and that for full file conversion, the software must be upgraded and registered. When we viewed the PDF, the entire file appeared to be there, but there was a notice that read “unregistered version” embedded into the PDF. Unfortunately, that makes any PDFs created with this trial version pretty useless. On top of that, we can’t tell you how the batch conversion works, because that feature is not available in the trial version.
