After installing Easy Video Recorder, the interface will pop up, showing you a small window with a handful of options. From these options you can choose the size of what you will capture, whether to capture audio with it, mouse cursor, and a few other options for what will appear onscreen, as well as where the captured video file will be stored. All of this can be adjusted rather quickly so you can start recording in just a few seconds. The recording process works seamlessly, allowing you to move into and out of recording with keystrokes. All files are saved as QuickTime video for editing, though you can also record other types of media into MOV files.

Easy Video Recorder is not a powerful video creation tool. It lacks a lot of the advanced editing, input source selection, and other recording tools that you’ll find in some of the pricier options on the market; but it works very well for what it is and the interface shows you all the tools you’ll need. While not a perfect solution, it is a low-cost one and it offers a free trial with all features unlocked, so you can check if it is a good fit for your needs.

Clean interface: The compact interface makes it easy for you to access different functions without having to dig down into menus or tabs. You will see one full window that has everything neatly presented, a movable “sidebar” that bears the “Record” button, and the video and audio sequence pane at the bottom.

Great video format support: This application can export MP4, 3GP, H.264, MOV, iMovie, DV, iDVD, QuickTime, as well as MP3 with no images or video. You can customize and save your export settings.

Color and lighting control: You can adjust both lighting and colors to make your videos more appealing.

Cons

Not free: The trial version puts a “Demo Version” watermark on your output video. You have to shell out some $50 to get rid of the watermark.

No updates since 2012: It’s a big issue considering that this is a paid app.
