Though you’ll see separate options for resizing and generating thumbnails, both lead to the same screen, which allows you to determine the size of output files either by using a slider or entering precise dimensions. You also can convert shots among popular formats including TIFF, BMP, and JPEG; if you choose the latter, you’ll be able to apply compression. You won’t find any editing tools to speak of, but the application offers a batch-renaming feature. Image Thumbnailer and Converter also can build basic, Web-ready thumbnail galleries, though you have little control over the appearance of the finished page. All told, this program seems like a solid choice, provided you already have an image editor.

You’re not going to need a manual to figure out this app.

Operating No File Recovery takes only a couple of clicks. You merely use the pull-down to select a drive, and press the Begin button. This app proceeds to lay down random numbers free block by free block. It isn’t lightning fast, but a percentage completed indicator helps users gauge program finish. It’s easy to stop the app before completion and restart the process at another time. However, the app can’t return to the point where it was interrupted. Program speed is improved if all other apps are closed during the process.

Overwriting free space and deleted files with random numbers may not stop the FBI from recovering your deleted files, but No File Recovery should block nearly anyone else from uncovering your deleted data.

The interface is a jumbled mess, but it does contain hints for inexperienced users about what the program is actually deleting. We found ourselves wishing the program had a tray icon or a browser toolbar, but even novices can benefit from Complete Cleanup.
