StarStaX is a powerful photo editing software that creates stacked images from your photos to generate amazing effects. With features like gap filling, blending, and overlaying dark frames, this tool helps you create works of art from your time-lapse and other photos.

There is no Help file in this app, and the interface is a bit confusing, especially if you’re new to this type of program. Once you find your way around, though, you can quickly make some great images with the processing and blending tools available. The interface features an area on the left-hand side where you can place all of the photos you want to process together. You can work on one photo at a time if you choose, but the real benefit of this program comes if you have multiple photos of the same scene or object that you’d like to process together into one image. Across the top of the window are options for opening images, opening dark frames, saving as, and starting processing. Before you process your images, you can set blending values and use the gap filling tools to get the combination just right.

The processing, itself, is quick, and the finished products are striking. This app is free, and if you know what you’re doing and have the right set of photos, you can make amazing images, although it might be frustrating for a beginner.
