Available as freeware with an option for donations, Magician for Mac does not require any payment for full functioning. Since the program was rather small and had a native installer, download and setup was easy and completed quickly. After starting the program for the first time, the user is prompted to set up an online account, although this is not necessary for full functioning. The program has no obvious instructions, which is a disappointment, but the menus are intuitive and easy to use for all but the least experienced user. The program is feature-rich despite being freeware. Users may track CPU usage, memory, active applications, software updates, malware, and even the current weather through the main application window. A small widget also shows basic memory and CPU usage and can be expanded by holding the cursor over it for more information. Users may also check battery health and status along with network information. The malware scanner completed quickly and has available definition updates.

MagicanLite for Mac graphically displays useful information regarding your system performance, including CPU processes and memory usage, and lets you end processes that occupy too much of your system memory. In addition, the app’s weather and Internet speed measurements give it all-around functionality.

The program’s main interface is represented with a small, thumbnail-size icon, which can easily be clicked and dragged around the screen. Its well-designed display shows a basic weather icon, along with Internet speeds, which can be easily refreshed. Holding the cursor over the window automatically brings up additional information in a larger window below, which is similarly easy to read. This provides more detailed information on the weather, which can display temperature information in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Upload and download usage is displayed by day and month below this. An additional toggle switch also shows the percentage of RAM used, or that of the CPU. Depending on which is selected, an additional section shows which programs or processes are taking up the memory or processor. The displays here also are very easy to read, with each listed program having its display icon present.

MagicanLite for Mac represents a good choice for users who often operate their computers at the limits of their systems as well as for those who want a basic snapshot of their computer’s usage statistics, along with other helpful information. This neat app functions well and is quite easy to use.

Magician Paster offers a plethora of useful information about your computer, but is hindered by the intrusive interface used to display it. While there are options to minimize the information or move it to a second desktop in Mission Control, the app lacks enough polish to be something you’d leave on all the time.

Magician Paster is available on the App Store so you won’t have to deal with any of the standard security issues that come with third-party apps. After installation, you can open the app to find numerous windows filled with information about your computer. The interface is actually very useful, if not entirely visually pleasing. While you can change which items appear and how they appear (there is a minimize option if you double-click any one sticky note), the interface remains a little messy and it eats up a lot of screen real estate. Our solution during tests was to create a second desktop and place all of them there, but the usefulness of the app is minimized somewhat by doing this.

MagicianPaster is, overall, a solid app. While the screen real estate they use up is at times frustrating, and the options for changing the interface are limited, the overall usefulness outweighs all that.

With just a click, Magican AntiTrojan for Mac performs fast Mac OS X system scans for known malware such as the notorious Flashback Trojan, as well as for MacKontrol, Sabpab, and Olyx. This free and rather basic software seems to perform its job of finding and removing all traces of the infection caused by these four known Trojans well.

After asking for the root password for scanning, Magican AntiTrojan for Mac starts with an easy to understand main menu. The graphics are rendered well for the labels, including those for the program name and title. An oval-shaped blue button initiates the scan, which looks for the four main Trojans for Mac. Our scan took only a few seconds, and the program immediately let us know that our system was issue-free. On the downside, the additional tools link didn’t work for us, and there was a spelling error on the main page, which shows a lack of attention to detail.

Mac users whose systems are infected by one of the above mentioned mainstream treats will definitely appreciate the quick and easy-to-use Magican AntiTrojan for Mac, even with its minor flaws. Users looking for additional features to help prevent attacks in the first place, should look elsewhere, though.
