Wallpaper Slideshow LT lets you create a rotating slideshow with your favorite photos on your computer’s desktop. Though it comes with only a couple of sample photos, you can include photos from your hard drive to personalize the application.

Wallpaper Slideshow LT is easy to use, which is a good thing since there is no Help file. But if you need a little guidance, the publisher’s Web site has information about the program that users may find helpful. When we installed the program, we chose to put an icon on our Desktop and on our Taskbar. It’s a good thing we did both, because the program’s controls are only accessible by right-clicking on the Taskbar icon. The Desktop icon only allows you to turn on the program. Once we found the controls, we were able to add some of our own photos into the mix. One of the fun features that Wallpaper Slideshow LT has is the ability to control how often the wallpaper images change. You can change the images every minute or every hour or anything between. You can also access your computer’s screensaver controls through Wallpaper Slideshow LT and add your own custom photos there.

Wallpaper Slideshow LT is free, so you can’t go wrong with the price. If you’re tired of the same boring mountains and lilies that come with Windows’ default selection of wallpapers, we recommend you give this program a try.

If you enjoy customizing your desktop with your own images — or need an easy way to create a slideshow for a presentation, party, or other event — try gPhotoShow. This easy-to-use screensaver makes it simple to display your images in a customizable slideshow format. It’s fun for home use, but professional enough for business, too.

gPhotoShow installs just like any other screensaver and is accessed through the Windows Display Properties menu. The program’s settings interface is tabbed and easy to navigate, with options for selecting multiple image directories, setting the delay between images and transition speed, setting background colors, and more. The program can also play music or other audio files, and we loved that both the images and audio can be set to play randomly or in order. There are 31 transition effects, and you can enable and disable them via check boxes. The program also lets you pause and restart the slideshow, as well as move back and forth between images. Built-in tool tips explain each of gPhotoShow’s features, but not much explanation was required; the program is quite easy to figure out, and we had a great-looking slideshow up and running in a matter of minutes. Overall, gPhotoShow didn’t wow us with any particularly new or innovative features, but if you need a straightforward way to create a screensaver slideshow, we think this is a great option. It’s easy to use but also has plenty of options for customizing and personalizing the display.

gPhotoShow Pro allows users to create multimedia screensavers and slideshows. The program works well, although it doesn’t have any particular features that make it stand out among similar programs.

The interface is fairly straightforward, and although it is not immediately obvious how to get started, it’s not hard to figure it out with a bit of exploration. Users select photos, video, music, or other media from their computer to be included in the slideshow or screensaver. From there, it’s easy to set the screensaver as the default for the user’s computer, or save it for distribution elsewhere. Slideshows can also be used elsewhere, even on computers that don’t have gPhotoShow installed. Overall we found the interface quite easy to navigate, and we created screensavers and slideshows with ease. The built-in Help file contains detailed directions and screenshots for users who need assistance. gPhotoShow does not have any features that really wowed us, but it is easy to use and does what one would expect of such a program. It does include a wide array of transitions and display options, and it offers multimonitor support. Users should have no trouble customizing their screensavers and slideshows to get them exactly how they want them.

gPhotoShow Pro has a 30-day trial and it displays text to that effect on the screensavers and slideshows. The program installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users who are looking for an easy way to make good-looking screensavers and slideshows.

If you frequently switch between using a mouse and the touch pad on your laptop, or use more input devices in general, this software may come as a blessing. If touch pad gestures aren’t quite working for you, Mouse Speed Switcher can help. It lets you control up to 10 mice or track pads in one program.

This program’s namesake feature isn’t the most exciting add-on it offers. While it can change how fast your mouse reacts to clicks, that feature can be found in your Windows Control Panel. So, unless you’re using more input devices and want a different mouse sensitivity for each, you won’t find this program worth paying $14.56 for. But Mouse Speed Switcher will nag you with update reminders if you don’t. You can still use the program for free if those don’t annoy you. Where you can find some value in the program is the ability to save settings for up to 10 mice or touch pads. Windows can be hit or miss actually doing that. Though most people don’t use 10, it’s completely possible for someone to use three or more input devices.

If you use more that one input device, Mouse Speed Switcher will save you from constantly fighting with your settings. Graphic designers that use input tablets will probably really enjoy a control panel for all of their input devices, too.
