But this freeware video downloader’s most useful (and most-used) controls and options are upfront on a small but well-designed user interface.

Pros

With or Without Conversion: The Output menu makes everything clear by listing some formats Without Conversion, and others with source and target formats.

Automatic: Not sure which format to choose? Select Without Conversion (Automatic), and let the program handle it.

Sounds or silence: We appreciate the ability to turn audible program alerts on and off.

Cons

Unsupported sites: While GetGo grabs video from more sites than just YouTube, we were disappointed that it couldn’t download video from several sites, including public sites like the Moving Image Archive.

A little Help: Clicking the Help button doesn’t open a Help file, although you can visit product pages with system requirements, basic instructions, and support contacts (including forums).

Bottom Line

While it’s not the fanciest or most versatile video downloader out there, GetGo Video Downloader is easy-to-use freeware that supports more than just YouTube downloads. And that’s probably what many of you want anyway.
