We review a lot of programs, and it’s not often that we come across one that we like well enough that we want to keep it for our own use. Time & Chaos is one such program. This planner and contact manager offers plenty of features without becoming cluttered and unwieldy.

The program’s interface is sleek and very intuitive, and we absolutely love how everything is displayed in separate panes in one screen. At a glance we can see our calendar, contacts, appointments, and tasks. Need to schedule a meeting with George, or put calling Betty on your to-do list? Just drag and drop your contact’s name into the appropriate pane, and the program will open the dialogue to set an appointment or task. Users can also view each function separately, including a daily view with a summary of the current day’s schedule and to-do list. Unlike many similar programs, Time & Chaos does not try to pack in a lot of useless features for the sake of looking comprehensive. Every feature we came across was well-designed and useful. We loved the memo feature, with its options of text, tables, and file shortcuts. We loved that contacts can be assigned to groups and categories and associated with one another. The program’s networking capabilities make it a fantastic choice for users who need to share information. The online Help file is thorough and well-written.

Time & Chaos has a 21-day trial period. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We highly recommend this program for users seeking a powerful and intuitive way to manage their time and contacts.

Atomic Clock Sync is a free program that does exactly what its name suggests and ensures that your PC’s clock information is up-to-date and accurate. We liked its ability to help repair any installation issues with Windows Time Service.

The program interface is about as straightforward as it gets. Tabs organize the small window into four function categories: Current Settings, Synchronization Interval, Repair Service, and About. The Current Settings tab displayed our clocks current Windows settings, including the local time, current UTC, as well as standard and daylight time zone information. Using the synchronization feature, we were able to override the default Windows Time Service synchronization and manually input time intervals in seconds, minutes, hours, or days. We entered our sync information, clicked the Sync button and the program immediately sent our resync command to the local computer. The one standout feature with the program is its step-by-step buttons for repairing Windows Time Service issues. As you click each button, the program does the work for you and goes through the steps of stopping the service, unregistering, reregistering, starting the service again, and finally, synchronizing the time. We were able to see the program’s progress as we clicked each step.

Other than a link to the publisher’s Web site, the program doesn’t offer any kind of Help feature. But users of skill levels will find it easy to use without any assistance. For that reason, we highly recommend Atomic Clock Sync for any user looking to keep their clock current.
