4Videosoft MKV Video Converter gives you the tools to convert your video files to and from MKV format for use on multiple devices. This app makes the process of conversion accessible to users of all experience levels, and it works quickly, so you get the results you’re looking for fast.

Pros

Convenient controls: All of the controls you need to complete conversions in this app are conveniently located on the main app interface. A button for adding files is located in the upper left-hand corner, and all of the files you add show up in a list in the middle of the window. To complete a conversion, just select an output format and destination folder for the new file, and then click the Convert button.

Output organization: When you’re choosing an output format for your video file, you’ll have little trouble finding the one you’re looking for. That’s because this program organizes format options into categories based on the type of device they’re appropriate for. Selecting a device opens another menu with the format options you can choose from, or you can browse the entire list by selecting All Devices.

Cons

Limited test: This app does offer a free trial option, but there are significant limits. For instance, you can only convert the first five minutes of a longer video, or half of a video that’s less than five minutes long. This does let you get a feel for the controls and available features of the app, but it doesn’t give you a full sense of how the app would handle the conversion of a full movie or how long it would take. There are also constant reminders that you are using a trial version and that you have to dismiss each one to continue with your trial.

Bottom Line

4Videosoft MKV Video Converter works smoothly and makes the process of conversion accessible to users of all experience levels. The full version costs $39.95 when you’re ready to buy.
