Sound Grinder for Mac lets you quickly convert your music and video collection to one of ten popular audio formats, providing you with multiple quality settings and metadata transfer. The place where this premium app excels, however, is in its droplet feature, which practically creates a shortcut in Finder for one of your conversion profiles. The performance isn’t bad, either.

Sound Grinder for Mac features an uninspired but usable interface. The main window is divided between a list of files to be converted, playback controls, and an information and settings section. In the app’s preferences, you can customize the columns displayed in the file list and also create presets for different conversion profiles. With the presets you can then create droplets, which are essentially shortcuts that you can place in the Finder, where you can easily use them by dropping files on top of them. This method of conversion is faster and more convenient than the traditional one. It took us four seconds to convert a three-minute MP3 to WAV and three seconds to convert a one-minute MP4 video to WAV.

Sound Grinder for Mac makes the conversion of audio files less laborious thanks to its droplets and presets feature. While it doesn’t impress with its visuals, the app proves to be usable even by the more inexperienced users. If you convert audio files on a regular basis, you should check it out.
