Though you can easily split and merge files using this application, some limitations mar its usefulness. RZSplit 2002’s utilitarian interface offers a simple directory for locating files and selecting a destination folder, and you can apply a file mask so only specific file types will be displayed. Four preset split sizes are offered, including 1.44MB, or you can enter your own custom size. Split files will have an extension recognized only by the program and they can’t be opened or used until they’re recombined. If you’re sending the split files to someone who doesn’t have RZSplit 2002, you can opt to include a BAT file. The recipient need only click the file and it will instantly combine files into their original format. Unlike similar applications, the program can only combine files it has previously split, but the process is just as easy as divvying them up. If you want to break up larger files to work with them, you’ll need to keep looking, but this app fits the bill if you just want to store or send your oversize files.
