It’s nowhere near as powerful as many of its competitors, but this bare-bones privacy application is functional and totally free. Privacy History Eraser’s main window is divided into four tabs, though the Erase History section is where most of the action happens. From there, you can wipe away your usage history from Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and three areas of the Windows system. However, the program doesn’t support alternative browsers and lacks any sort of file shredder. If you visit the developer’s site you can download plug-ins that will clean up about 10 third-party programs, but it would be much better if these plug-ins were already built in. All told, Privacy History Eraser best suits budget-minded Internet Explorer users primarily concerned with concealing their Web-surfing activities.
