Sometimes simple tools are the ones we use the most. This diary application, though limited in what it can do, is a reliable piece of freeware that has its uses. You can create or delete journal entries (records under a single heading), add or remove records, or export records as text, HTML, or comma-separated values (CSV). Searching is limited, as you can only search by entry number, and the program has no formatting options, with all entries in plain text. A skinnable interface adds a stylistic touch, but not one that contributes overall to the program’s usefulness. We liked that entries can be password-protected, however. For those looking for a robust diary application, this is not your program. However, for basic diary tasks with few frills and little fuss, PowerJournal works well.
