This program facilitates e-mailing large files by easily splitting the file into multiple parts, but could use a wizard to help novices choose the best splitting method. The interface is a trio of simple dialog boxes: join, split, and compare. In the primary box users choose the file to split and the split-file size. The number of split files that will be created is listed to allow the user to choose a different size. Joining is a simple matter of selecting the first split piece and clicking join. User options include combining the file in a separate directory and deleting the split files after recombining. The compare dialog makes it easy to check the split and join processes before e-mailing the split files. The person receiving the files does not need MasterSplitter since the program creates a Windows batch file to recombine the files. This isn’t a tool for everyone, but anyone needing to split large files will find it useful.
