Excel is already an enormously powerful tool, but DigDB provides a handful of extra functions that can make a spreadsheet easier to use. We particularly liked the Filter, Roll up, and Sort features that allow users to do queries similar to SQL functions in an easy-to-use interface. In many cases we found these commands more convenient and powerful than Excel’s own Pivot and Subtotals.

Another useful feature provides the ability to split columns–extracting first and last names into separate columns, for example. In our tests the program worked smoothly and quickly, even with large tables, although the lack of a help file might give some new users pause. Overall, we see DigDB as a potentially significant help to people who work with large spreadsheets.
