Attempting to offer an all-in-one Internet-security application, Armor2net Personal Firewall yields mixed results. Initial installation and setup are easy, as the application walks you through several configuration screens. However, the program’s interface is somewhat confusing and may not be clear for beginners. The Net State and Program Filter tabs do an excellent job of indicating which programs are running, which remote addresses they are trying to access, and which preferences have been set for automatic-access attempts. A pop-up window alerts you when an unrecognized program or process attempts to access your machine. Unfortunately, certain other features do not work as well. The banned-sites list failed to block subpages of a listed URL, and the pop-up blocker didn’t work at all during our tests. Armor2net Personal Firewall suits those seeking a basic firewall application, but its failure to deliver on other advertised features certainly tempers our enthusiasm.
