This software aims to teach you speed-reading. The installation is fast, and AceReader Pro Deluxe launches on your desktop in seconds. The small main window presents various drills and training sessions to test your skills. In one of the tests you read a passage, then answer questions based on the content. Another game displays text within which you have to find specified words. A third drill flashes a word on the screen, then asks you to choose it from among four words. A flash-card game shows sentences about American state capitals, then asks you again to choose the correct one from four shown. The Deluxe edition adds the ability to set the grade level of the text, create and edit your own custom tests, and collect test results and settings in a database. The only inconvenient thing about the program is you have to use the mouse to select the right answer, which can be slow or imprecise. That’s only a quibble, though. AceReader Pro Deluxe ought to help most people who want to read more quickly.
