Free Webcam Recorder records and produces video in six different formats using your Webcam. You can also take still pictures with this fast application, but routine crashes and lack of support may discourage you from continued use.
Pros
Excellent, accessible recording: Free Webcam Recorder supports MP4, WMV, FLV, AVI, MPG, and MOV file types, so you will always be able to share and view your videos. All video formats, as well as the still pictures, retained the quality of our native Webcam.
Easy to use: This application is very basic in its design and layout. There are only four main buttons needed for use, and a short, informative guide is located on the bottom of the screen that explains how to use the program.
Cons
No support: Free Webcam Recorder provides a link to its Web site, but no support options were available other than a standard email address. The how-to guide included with the application is sufficient, but there are no options for further advanced questions.
Frequent instability: Our test recordings always resulted in Free Webcam Recorder ceasing to work. Videos were still saved, but the regular crashes slowed down the recording process tremendously.
Bottom Line
Free Webcam Recorder does exactly what it is meant to do, and we see it as a good tool that needs a little more work. Similar applications, like Fotofriend, give you access to special effects during recording. This would be a great addition to Free Webcam Recorder, in our opinion. We recommend you only download Free Webcam Recorder if you can handle the routine instability; otherwise, please explore more helpful programs.
