While this screensaver’s relaxing theme and lovely background images promise a pleasant high-country experience, its sloppy special effects bring it down to earth. AllMountainSaver displays seven alpine scenes in various seasons, accompanied by a mellow piano score and the sounds of thunder, running water, and rain (you have to turn off the music to hear the effects). The rippling water looks realistic enough, but the precipitation is much less convincing. Not only do the rain and snow look unrealistic, they often appear against a clear, sunny sky. Customization options include the ability to enable transition effects, turn off the soundtrack, set the image interval, and change the animation speed. While nature lovers may enjoy the high-quality photo backgrounds, we think many users will have trouble ignoring AllMountainSaver’s primitive animations and poorly chosen audio.
