Perhaps the full version of Final Furlong provides some betting excitement, but the demo limits play so much it’s just not any fun. You watch the Final Furlong demo more than you play, and the graphics look like a Nintendo 64 throwback. The entire gameplay in the demo involves placing one bet on one horse to win, place, or show. You can’t save the game, set any options, or access any help files. The program unzips its EXE file rather than actually installing to your PC. Watching 10 identical brown horses run around the same yellow track bored us, but the generic looping audio actively annoyed us. The betting is unrealistic and offers none of the special tricks that make horse racing interesting. We hope the full version offers more, but the Final Furlong demo isn’t worth the download.
