In spite of its extensive user-support documents, HelpScribble’s confusing, hard-to-use interface and work flow could easily scare a beginner away. On the plus side, the program offers a wealth of capabilities for creating any type of help file, including flat RTF manuals, Web-based documents, and full-fledged manuals, both in the WinHelp and HTML Help standards. We also appreciate that HelpScribble gives you tools that greatly facilitate creating a table of contents and index for your manual. However, the evaluation version adds a watermark to files, won’t export source documents, and only lets you save your creation in HTML. These limitations reduce its appeal to more experienced users who could at least tough their way through the program’s nonintuive interface.
