Although it thankfully lacks the adware found in many screensavers, this golf-themed offering suffers from performance quirks and poor image quality. This program’s concept doesn’t stray far from its name, as it basically displays golf balls bouncing across a number of different courses. While the animated balls didn’t look bad, the background photo scenes were very disappointing, exhibiting numerous artifacts and an inordinate amount of blurriness. Curiously, the program’s theme music doesn’t automatically start when the screensaver launches and when it finally does kick in, it momentarily disrupts the action. Still, since the bundled music is unimpressive and unrelated to the subject matter, many users may just choose to use their own WAV files as an accompaniment. The application’s other features include the ability to set the amount and speed of balls, configure the transition time between scenes, and disable the nag messages at the bottom. Despite this screensaver’s obvious flaws, hard-core golf junkies might still want to take the plunge.
