NXPowerLite Desktop allows you to easily lower the size of your larger JPEG and PDF files, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Optimized files keep the same format while their size is significantly reduced, making them easier to manage and send via e-mail.
Pros
Easy to use: Click the Add Files button to quickly group multiple files that you want to shrink, or drag and drop them into the main app window. NXPowerLite Desktop also sends optimized files via e-mail with just the click of a button, which is located in the main menu.
Advanced save, file naming, and backup settings: Choose between specific save profiles, which makes it easier to save optimized files and back them up. You can define how the app names your backup files and optimized copies, as well as choose your Optimize Profile using different options such as Screen, Print, Mobile, Custom, and so on. If you choose the Custom profile, then you’ll be able to set some parameters, such as JPEG quality, size of images according to different displays, removing EXIF data on JPEG files, and flattening embedded objects on PowerPoint presentations.
Finder shortcuts: To automatically lower the size of your files and attach them directly to your e-mail, go through your Finder window using the Optimize and Email option. If you don’t want to e-mail your file after decreasing its size, there is also a shortcut to add the file to NXPowerLite or just to optimize it.
Cons
Limited format support: It would be nice if the app supported more formats than JPEG, PDF, and PPT.
Not free: Once you download and install NXPowerLite Desktop, you have 14 days for evaluation, and then if you want to keep using the app, it costs $50.
Bottom Line
NXPowerLite Desktop is not really a small app (around 39MB to download and around 125MB on your hard drive), and it will cost you after 14 days. But NXPowerLite Desktop might come in handy if you frequently deal with JPEG, PDF, or PPT files and don’t know how to optimize these types of files. If you do buy the app, you can continue to use the same registration key, even if you change platforms (e.g., Mac to Windows).
