WhatSize for Mac provides a visual overview of what’s on your machine and helps you clean out unnecessary items.
Pros
Multiple views, multiple tools: WhatSize offers browser, outline, table, and pie chart views. After deciding what you want to delete, you can utilize the cleaner, duplicate finder, and delocalizer.
Color coding: Folders greater than 1GB are colored red, greater than 1MB are colored purple, and greater than 1 byte are colored green. This makes it easy to see areas of concern at a glance.
Thorough documentation: A 30-page PDF provides plenty of information about WhatSize and how it works.
Cons
Not for novices: WhatSize was designed for users familiar with basic file management.
Bottom Line
WhatSize for Mac has a streamlined interface and offers a number of tools for quickly assessing the sizes of files on your machine and making decisions about what to do with them. However, if you’re not knowledgeable about file types, you may want to seek an alternative solution.
Editors’ note: This is a review of the trial version of WhatSize for Mac 6.1.2.
