You could do a lot worse for blocking annoying pop-up windows than AdShield Popup & Ad Blocker. After installation, the program launches as an Explorer bar in Internet Explorer. However, before the program starts to block anything, you have to manually configure what should be blocked; otherwise the program will just add possible pop-up links to its block list while you surf. The items you can block include images, hyperlinks, forms, pages, and ordinary and scripted pop-ups. The program emits no sound during blocking; it just keeps pop-ups from opening. Its interface is limited to a window that appears on the left side of your browser. The program doesn’t slow your browser, blocking five pop-up windows in three seconds in our testing. AdShield Popup & Ad Blocker might not be extremely innovative, but its power makes it worth a look for anyone who surfs the Web these days.
