Despite a couple of small flaws, this suite of audio tools still stands as a competent choice. Fx Audio Tools bundles a ripper, a recorder, a converter, and a player into one easy-to-use, albeit humdrum, interface. We appreciate that the audio player includes a 12-band equalizer as well as visualizations, features more often found in standalone jukeboxes. The converter supports most popular audio formats such as MP3, WAV, WMA, and OGG, as well as less-common codecs such as GSM and VOX. When transforming files, you can select audio quality and add high-pass or low-pass filters. The recording utility lets you adjust the incoming signal level and includes presets for sources such as a CD player, a microphone, and a tape deck. Although the ripper worked just fine in our tests, we got error messages when trying to connect to the CDDB to retrieve track information. We also wish the app displayed a list of songs when ripping CDs. Other than that, we think Fx Audio Tools makes a good fit for any casual user seeking an all-in-one sonic solution.
