This no-frills audio converter earns our respect for its ease of use and rapid performance, but a slim feature set and a strange design bug may turn some users off. Win MP3 Converter simply transforms MP3 files into WAVs and vice versa. Since it does nothing outside of its main job, the tabbed interface is intuitive to use, if a bit bland. As is the case with most conversion applications, this one lets you configure the audio quality but neglects to let you convert WAVs into the space-efficient VBR MP3 codec. Still, this app’s speed proved quite impressive, as it converted five MP3 files in an astonishing 15 seconds. Besides its lack of features, our main complaint with this app has to do with an oddity we noticed when changing the destination directory of our new files. No matter where we tried to put the files or how many times we clicked Save, the program still put our new songs in the default location. Nevertheless, folks who need to convert large batches of files without spending a lot of time should at least give Win MP3 Converter a shot.
